A LARGE THREE TIER SURGICAL SET MADE BY DOWN BROTHERS LONDON 1908
[lightslider_looper]

This handsome set was likely made for British Navy use in the early 20th century. The top brass plate on the box dates this surgical set to 1908. The presence of a diagram on the upper inner part of the box depicting where instruments should go is typical of naval surgical sets.

The set is composed of all aseptic instruments that are removable in stainless steel instrument trays for ease in sterilization of instruments.

I have not counted all instruments but the set is not perfectly complete. In my experience in 10 years of collecting, it is rare to find perfectly complete military sets, especially sets that are this large.
